TAIMUN 12th Press 2014
Taiwan Model United Nations

Intro to the Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Affairs Committee Chairs
By Jennifer Ai, International Bilingual School at Hsinchu Science Park
Serving this year’s Social, Cultural and Humanitarian Committee (SOCHUM), chairs Tina Hung and Kelly Lin are in charge of compromising with their delegates and finding applicable solutions to conflicts, such as the situation for displaced persons, human trafficking, and protection for vulnerable world heritage sites.
Currently enacting as a senior in American School in Taichung (AST), Tina started her MUN career back in middle school. With TAIMUN XII being her 7th Model United Nation conference, she has had the pleasure to meet and collaborate with many others coming from different culture and had some of her best moments with them. Not only does she know how to socialize, but also to realize the responsibility as a chair to see “full participation” and “fruitful debates” coming from her delegates during the conference. Aside from being an authoritative and responsible figure, Tina also enjoys swimming and singing on her leisure. However, ladies and gentlemen, please hold onto your tears, because Tina is stepping out of the spotlight. As it is her last year at American School in Taichung (AST), it’s also her last MUN of her high school career.
Along the same line with Tina, Kelly Lin also began her MUN career in middle school, more specifically during 7th grade. She is currently a freshman in Morrison Academy in Taichung (MAT) and has already attended 5 MUN conferences. Yet unlike many of her peers, she has prevailed and had the opportunity to handle the burden of a chair as an eighth grader. Opening a new chapter in her life, this will be Kelly’s first time serving as co-chair for a TAIMUN committee. Not only does she wish to see delegates give their full effort during the conference, but also to witness delegates and officers negotiating and coming together to reach a solution. As a side note, Kelly also has high interests in subjects such as cooking, dancing, and blogging! If anyone’s interested, feel free to check out her blog!
