    Recently, green technology has been boosting up its fame! Green technology, or Environmental technology is the application of one or more environmental science and other green science to monitor, model and conserve the natural environment and resources. Many nations and companies try to maximize the use of green technology for it saves the Earth and our environment.

 

   Some of the most well known green technologies are used to produce energy by using natural resources like sun, wind, and water. People use those natural resources through solar panel, wind turbines, and dams. Nations, such as Germany, produce renewable electric power by using those natural resources and green technologies. People not only use those for daily electricity use, but also for vehicles. Automotive industries try to implement these green energies in their cars to produce less carbon dioxide. For example, Honda manufactured Honda FCX Clarity in 2008. In addition to cars, NASA had launched a space shuttle into space using hydrogen. Green technology is seen in all size of vehicles.

 

     Green technology is more than solar panels, wind turbines, and alternative fuel. Few inspiring individuals have opened the new era of green technology with innovative ideas that no one has ever explored before. For example, a researcher at Louisiana Technology University designed a shoe that contains a small generator in its sole. So, when a person moves while wearing the shoe, the momentum energy is converted into electricity, and is stored to be used later.

 

    Governments put in a lot of effort to utilize green technology for their citizens. Elizabeth Redmond’s Powerleap concept tiles can now be seen in various places around the world. Powerleap concept tiles work is a flooring system that converts wasted energy from human foot traffic into electricity. First showcase was done in 2007, where the experimenters put the tile on the floor, and see how much energy they could get in one day just with pedestrians passing by. At the end, enough electricity was gathered to charge a cell phone. Today, Powerleap concept tiles are well known, and are used in various places, even in a small play area for children.

 

     We know that green technology is getting more influential, but why is green technology so important? The world has fixed amount of natural resources, and some are already used or destroyed. Plus, using fossil fuels can be very dangerous to both environment and health. Therefore, green technology is here to save our environment with clean energy sources and less pernicious products. In the past, green technology was only for affordable rich people but now, many companies and organizations are promoting green technology to contribute to a better environment. Green technology has improved so much from the past, and is now blending into our daily lives.
